Housing development Benzburweg LiestalLiestal, Switzerland 2000 - 2003Basler Versicherungen, Basel Architecture |
The Benzburweg housing development was built on the former parking lot of the Hanro company. The parking lot is about one meter higher than the Benzburweg street and appears like a plateau. The urban planning idea for the housing development adopts the plateau in the form of a concrete unit. On top of it, three structures are arranged so that various outdoor areas can be defined. On the basis of this project idea, a neighborhood plan was established which was officially approved in May 2000. The construction permit was obtained in December 2000.
The Benzburweg housing development, called „Living on the Frenke“ and located in the town of Liestal near Basel, has been designed with families in mind and consists of a total of 69 two- to five-room flats. The open structure of the housing concept ensures a high quality of living in every respect. The surroundings with squares of various sizes, extensive green areas and children’s playgrounds enhance the housing value for all its inhabitants. In designing the actual flats, care was taken to ensure they would meet a wide variety of needs. All the apartments have generous outdoor areas in the form of loggias, balconies or patios.
Down-to-earth colors and materials were chosen in order to leave the inhabitants maximum freedom in furnishing their homes.
