Care center ZugBaar, Switzerland 2002 - 2006Canton of Zug Competition 1st prize |
Extracts from the report of the panel of appraisers.
The space has been divided according to its functions into three separate and independent, clearly structured and compact bodies. The triad made up of the central hospital, the care center and the parking garage forms a precise urban whole. This produces a second dense center of gravity in the spatial structure of the commune of Baar in addition to its urban center.
The “VITALE” project is based on a systematic access, operating and building concept, which strictly separates outpatients and visitors plus bed and material transports.
The project is very attractive for patients, visitors and personnel alike. This is economically significant in view of the increasing competition among providers.
In addition, the operational concepts are excellently solved in the core areas of the hospital (surgery, medicine, emergency x-raying and nursing).
The project authors have succeeded in designing an independent nursing center which is nevertheless closely associated with the central hospital, thanks to its structure and arrangement relative to its urban surroundings. |
