Edipresse Printing centre

Bussigny-Lausanne, Switzerland

2005 - 2006

Edipresse SA, Lausanne

General planning, architecture, construction management

The Edipresse group covered until recently their newspaper printing destined to the Arc Lémanique with their two printing centers, one in Geneva (CIEG) and the other in Lausanne (CIEL). As a result of a strategic analysis and decision taken at the beginning of the new decade in the year 2000, the two entities were to be reorganized and combined under one roof. Preference was given to the Bussigny center, mostly for its geographic location and the existing land reserves which would allow possible future extension on this site.

The overall project scope is based on a budget of about CHF 50 million. Combining simplicity and functionality, the elegant industrial building of the extended CIE continues in the tradition of the main construction modes of the original plant built at the end of the nineteen eighties. The building of the new rotary press reaches a height of 14 m, reflecting from the outside the ultra modern production line which was being installed.

The site of the new printing facility is located in the industrial zone of the town of Bussigny, between the cantonal road and the railway. It is surrounded by roads and a concentration of small transportation and other enterprise which favor the high density of vehicle moves of all types necessary for plant material supply and distribution of finished products.
