Office building CityportZurich, Switzerland 1999 - 2001CS Asset Management, Zurich General planning, architecture |
The Cityport is the gateway to the Zentrum Zürich Nord, a new city district that has been built on the former factory premises of ABB. Located at a prominent site adjacent to the railroad station of Oerlikon, the impressive 240 meter long and 22 meter tall building is a new urban landmark.
It forms the hinge between the railroad tracks and the new commercial and residential buildings with their park amenities (see MFO Park).
Two public thoroughfares for pedestrians and bicycles alongside the building underscore its linking function. Designed as a glass cube with a clear formal language, the structure radiates transparency and elegance with its size. These characteristics are also part of the corporate identity of companies relocating to here – global corporations with their headquarters.
