Architecture

In a planning and construction period of merely 14 months, Burckhardt+Partner Zürich designed and constructed an exceptional office building for Credit Suisse.

The building offers about 20,000 square meters of work area, and its transparent architecture affords a unique view of the Lake of Zürich. Some 1200 staff work in an open-plan office fully tailored to the needs of modern work.

The building was designed as an independent “city”. In other words, urbanity has been generated “in-house”. The structuring of the building, with a main emphasis clearly on the horizontal axis, has been duplicated inside the open-plan offices by streets running alongside the workstations. Streets lead to squares, and the so-called Meeting Points at the feet of every staircase landing have been designed precisely as such. They are places where employees meet on the office floors, inviting people to stay a while on sofas and exchange ideas.

The restaurant has been deliberately located on the ground floor. Visitors and employees alike are led in the summertime through the garden restaurant to the interior. Thus, the surroundings and the world of work are harmoniously blended, inviting people to discover the interior of the building.

The building has got the seal of “Minergie”.
