Old people's home Domicil Hausmatte

As part of the Hausmatte Development Ordinance, building field A was planned for a building with centre function on the former Coop site.

The framework conditions defined lead to a bent, five-storey building volume with penthouse floor. The ground floor on the Dorfplatz in Hinterkappelen includes a restaurant, doctor’s practices and a baker’s shop. The other floors are used as a senior citizen’s residence by Domicil Bern AG.

The 1st floor features 21 care rooms organised in two household communities. The other storeys include a total of 49 1,2 and 3-room apartments adapted for old people.

The facade with the set-back balconies is surrounded by a wooden screen.

At the request of the municipality, the area in front of the building is designed such that various activities and events are possible.
