Customer advisory service center IGP

Wil, Switzerland

IGP Pulvertechnik AG, Wil

Architecture, realization

The annex to its administrative building meets IGP’s additional space and customer-service requirements. It accommodates offices, a customer advisory service center, as well as the new main entrance and reception area.

The special architecture is intended to signify that “architecture reflects brick-and-mortar identity”. In the interior area, the color theme is orchestrated and experienced in sensitive yet impressive and lasting fashion.

The added annex constitutes the new head unit of the existing administrative building. Its function as the head unit is underscored by its vertical, curved geometry that interfaces with the horizontal, rectangular geometry of the existing production facility. An inviting stairway leads the visitors from the parking level to the main entrance and highlights the urbanistic presence of the building.

The façade features external, vertical steel supports and storey-high windows. The 100 façade supports consist of welded, load-bearing structural steel profiles.

Continuing the façade supports, 17 detached supports extending parallel to the existing façade of the administrative building form a “lamellar curtain,” which in a few years will be adorned by green vines.

The surface of the steel supports is spray-coated with zinc with the addition of a special IGP powder coating using the IGP-PFC911 ME microstructure powder. This fluoropolymer lacquer of an elegant anthracite color with a pearly luster lends these surfaces an extremely fine appearance.
