Landmark Tower Dublin, Ireland With the renaissance of the Dublin Docklands the area will become one of the most exciting and pleasant destinations in the city. For years, Dublin Harbour has played a key role in the history of the City. With new public amenities, events and activity, the harbour will continue to play a key role but now as a generator of a new economy and as a visitor destination. The Gateway Landmark is a centrepiece of the Dockland development, symbol of the new harbour side neighbourhood, offering a great atmosphere, setting new standards of entertainment, shopping and leisure. This high standing area is offered as a background to residential and office use. Egyptian Museum Gizeh, Egypt An immaterial monument has been created. A vast surface of fine water spray announces the presence of the Museum at a distance. The mass of spray can disappear in seconds. Unlike heavy ancient monuments, this one, without competing with existing ones, marks a contrast with a radical but neutral modernity. It is known that the happiest of men is the man who lives in closest, fullest harmony with nature. Since man cannot live on earth's surface without shelter of some kind, these relationships have been developed between manmade shelter and natural landscape. In considering the development of a natural landscape area our twin target has been the preservation and intensification of its native character together with the development of maximum agreeable conditions for living. An integration conception in which natural factors and man-made structures are harmoniously related to each other. Complex Administratif et Culturel de Montréal, Canada Analyzing the heterogeneous environment, the physical and symbolic presence of the Government and of culture can only be translated by means of a unity, of a new language. The urban hall which is equally antithesis to the North American fragmented district and synthesis of its different scales, introduces a diversity of typology which suggests a public building of importance. The complex is not by itself connected to a traditional typology of a cultural or administrative building but it sees itself through its transparent form as a significant place for the administrative and cultural life of Quebec. Office Park Flughafen Wien, Austria This project was characterized by its precise specifications, the required utilization of the lot, and the allowable maximum height. Also its location adjacent to the Vienna airport marks the nature of the site. The site is used as an office building, offering space for several hundred jobs. The adjoining airport can be reached on foot. The large amount of public traffic requires high-quality, convenient and future-oriented office structures as well as an autonomous and attractive outdoor space. All this must be accessible from all sides and yet be self-contained in terms of building design and urban development. To satisfy the needs of the open space and of the buildings, we opted for three volumes. Each of them has its own different space-forming function, being individually oriented and optimally lit. The three clear structures determine to a large extent the future urban development for the adjoining areas and for building construction in the years to come. Swisstower in Frankfurt, Germany The communication machine of the 21st Century Economic and social changes affect our needs and set new measures in the quality of urban spaces. Future attractive places must have the ability to act communicatively to make the development of potential relationships possible, causing synergies in our social lives and in business. Modern urban places live from the concentration of density, variety, communication and transparency. Swisstower Police City in Luxembourg, Verlorenkost, Luxemburg The morphologic analysis of the city of Luxembourg determines the overall rules of the composition:
The areas which immediately border the building site are characterised by delicate, differing grains. The contrast between the urban, densely built West, the East which appears as rather rural and the large green areas of the South are big and decisive for the concept. The tenor of the project comes from a combination of these to different measures: “the echo of the city” and “the integration of the existing Verlorenkost neighbourhood”. |
