Office building Laupenstrasse 18/18A

The office building at a central location in Bern City has been completely refurbished both internally and externally. By closing an internal courtyard running vertically through all the floors, the floor plan has been lightened and significantly upgraded. On the ground floor a former storage area facing the railway lines with a loading ramp has been converted into bright office/sales space.

The aim of the façade refurbishment was to satisfy current heat technology requirements and provide improved comfort for all the workplaces while at the same time upgrading and strengthening the identity of the property.

The new bright and slightly reflecting outside skin unifies the relaxed building volumes at the end of the line of buildings. External window breasts bring a number of different elements together and impart a sense of generous space and horizontal dynamic to the building. 

After completion of the refurbishment work, Burckhardt+Partner Bern moved into new office premises on the 4th floor of the building.
