Adhesive manufactory Sika Switzerland

Düdingen, Switzerland

2005 - 2007

Sika Schweiz AG, Zurich

General planning building, architecture, quality management realization

SIKA AG is building a new factory for the manufacture of high quality adhesives alongside its existing plant in Düdingen; these adhesives are for the automobile industry and for building construction in the European market.

The building is planned as a cost-efficient industrial construction with high functionality and flexibility. Production-related changes can thus be implemented at short notice and in an uncomplicated manner.

The factory is divided into various building wings in accordance with its use:

  • Delivery zone with external tanks and external silos for storage of raw materials.
  • The production wing is multi-storey and designed as reinforced-concrete composite structure with light construction facade from metal for easier adaptation to changed production devices.
  • Filling and packing wing with freight forwarder and truck ramps as concrete element structure with supporting framework and facades from prefabricated concrete.
  • Office wing with main entrance and social rooms from site-mixed concrete with metal facade.

The general planning of the building and its technical infrastructure was carried out taking account of the continuously defining process technology as an ongoing process in the area of conflict between maximum possible flexibility and the most efficient use of means with constant consultation with the general planner team concerning the production facilities and the logistics/surroundings.
