Office and residential buildings ThiersteineralleeBasel, Switzerland 2001 - 2003Winterthur Leben, Winterthur Competition 1st prize |
The basis for planning and developing the Coop Switzerland site between Güterstrasse, Thiersteinerallee, Hochstrasse, Uhlandstrasse and Tellstrasse is a government resolution defining a development plan based on special construction regulations of 15.12.1994. With just a few exceptions, the project complies with the building forms and heights described there.
The office building on Thiersteinerallee/Güterstrasse has a structured glass facade with a mural facade design.
The greater breadth on Thiersteinerallee allows duplex interior access to the offices and therefore economic utilization.
The ground plans allow flexible utilization with its single, group, combi and open-plan offices. This multistructural utilization is enabled by the design of the primary structure.
The street area on Thiersteinerallee is defined by a long structure with an uninterrupted volume. Four transverse building sections create the link with the court buildings. The structure is readily interpreted as a whole with this unified height, and therefore somewhat wider. In addition, the project makes provision for two houses and an office building on Tellstrasse, which are designed as a front face in the building gap and as a low back house on the court side.
