Urban Setting

The design of this new ward block respects the existing landmark status of the multi-storey main building within the Triemli Hospital complex. The architecturally important high-rise from the 1970s retains its importance as the core of the campus and remains the characteristic feature of the silhouette. The new ward building complements the existing structures and leads visitors to the main entrance.

Building Space

The new entrance hall is the center of this architectural composition. The structural volume of the existing main building, the expanded OP wing and the new ward block all adjoin this. The fitting space between the buildings allows for individuality for each part of the composition. The main high-rise building remains the anchor for the entire campus setting.

Extending the Base

The overall complex with the existing multi-storey main building is unified by a clearly defined underlying structure. This base extends into the new ward block and forms the pedestal for the entire complex by integrating the main entrance and emergency admissions, along with the pediatric and maternity wards.
