The “Wasserstelzen” estate was built in the southern part of Riehen, in a quiet residential quarter with single-family houses and leisure time facilities. A total of 25 privately owned, terraced single-family houses, rooms for quiet commerce and 18 attic-apartment-like rented apartments as well as a large multi-family house with 32 2 1/2 to 5 1/2 room rented apartments were built. Situated close by are a kindergarten, school, bus station and also the Raurach shopping centre.

 

Attention was paid to innovative and flexible residential solutions of a modern standard for all wings of the building that form a triangle with free inner area. An overall energy concept was drawn up with special consideration for environmental friendliness. Minergy Standard or solar hot water heating are also offered as options. The residential units are heated via a connection to the local heating association.

 

Burckhardt + Partner Basel is responsible for the architecture and overall planning of the 50-million project. Also involved in the project is the AG für Planung und Überbauung, a 100% subsidiary of Burckhardt + Partner which offers the privately owned single-family houses for sale in a choice of several variants. Balimag AG, a property company of UBS Fund Management AG, is responsible for the rented apartments, attic apartments and commercial areas.
